Synopsis.
A series of strange disappearances have taken place across Japan and, despite police efforts, no leads have been found, other than the fact that all of the victims were teenagers.
Akatsuki Iride is a very popular person in the video game community, he is a fairly well-known streamer. One day, he unlocks hidden content in a mysterious free game called "Nakanohito Genome" and discovers that it is a real-life video game.
Shortly after, he wakes up to find that he has been kidnapped and brought to a strange place along with 7 other people. All are known, they are streamers each playing in their specific category of games.
A strange alpaca-headed person named "Paka" gathers them after the first level to explain how the game will work.
He explains to them that they must win all the games and win 100 million views if they want to be able to get out. Of course, this game is real, meaning they can get hurt or die. They will have to play at the risk of their lives.

Karin Sarayashiki:
A popular horror game streamer. Although she appears aggressive and cold, she is easily scared and even admits that while she loves horror games, she doesn't actually want to participate in a horror game herself. /SPOIL\ She will even show her soft side in episode 11 when she takes care of the child players for a level. /SPOILERS\
✼ •• ┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈ •• ✼
Kaikoku Onigasaki:
A player of wars and Japanese games. He's laid back and calm, but whenever necessary, he pulls out his katana, ready to fight. It is kind of due to search everywhere and visit places prohibited by the regulations. /SPOIL\ This is how he angered Paka and got locked up in the White Room. /SPOILERS\
☆ °° ┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈ °° ☆
Anya Kudo:
he is a specialist in fighting games in general. Easily angered and of an angry personality, Anya has trouble getting along with other players, especially Kaikoku and Zakuro. On the other hand, he sympathizes very quickly with Akatsuki until being very protective towards him. /SPOIL\ Because of his strong personality, he will be sanctioned by Paka, so he will receive peppers in his meals. /SPOILERS\
☆ °° ┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈ °° ☆
Zakuro Oshigiri:
He likes stealth games. He is very calm in nature, with a mask over his face. He finds it difficult to work with Anya. Despite his closed side, he will help other players, especially Kaikoku. /SPOIL\ He is also looking for his sister Sakura, who was kidnapped 2 years ago. /SPOILERS\
☆ °° ┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈ °° ☆
Himiko Inaba:
A streamer who loves management and simulation games. She is very shy and carries stun grenades to defend herself. She is very sensitive and hates that her comrades argue, she does not hesitate to throw grenades. /SPOIL\ She likes management so much that she will keep a "monster" with the head of Iride. /SPOILERS\
☆ °° ┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈ °° ☆
Paka:
The mysterious moderator of 13th Avenue from The Ones Within game, Genome. He hides his face behind an alpaca mask. Although he is likeable and fun, he can show a darker and more serious side whenever he faces opposition from one of the players. He likes to do a lot of dirty tricks like in episode 8.
~~~
Each character represents a feeling, an emotion. /SPOILERS\
Akatsuki represents joy and friendship, he is cheerful and befriends everyone, he helps everyone even when he doesn't know each other, but being too nice can be dangerous like in level 4.
Karin represents the desire to pass for someone having no fear, she does not assume to be afraid and tries to be the strong person who is not afraid of anything by hiding behind horror games.
Kaikoku represents our feeling of being sure of ourselves, of believing ourselves invulnerable, and thus of not respecting the rules. It's playing with fire, and playing with fire burns your wings.
Anya represents to him the passion that we have in us and our desire not to give in, we try to play the "caïdes" the loners. Yet even Anya will need help, and will resolve to help each other.
Zakuro represents the loneliness and our withdrawn side that we can have. He has a goal, to find his sister, but it is by befriending Kaikoku that he will let himself be open to others.
Himiko represents our shyness and our guilt, she is quite shy and feels a lot of guilt. It is with the friendship she will have with others that she will be less and less shy.
As for Yuzu, she represents our ironic, sarcastic side, she plays it strongly, even if it means making her teammates uncomfortable. She is quite calculating. But she will understand later that it is better to be with others than against them.
Aikawa represents our sadness and our fear of failure. He speaks very little and is often lonely, he is afraid of being disappointed again and of trusting, but once again it is by being with others that he frees himself.
Paka, he represents our whims, he is playful and jovial but when he receives opposition from one of the players, he is dark and firm, even if it means being mean to them.
This is just my simple opinion. You are free to represent the characters in your own way. /SPOILERS\
~~~
For places, the main ones are the "living room" where there is the cafeteria, the outdoor baths and the players' rooms. Everyone has their own room, the outdoor baths are divided into two, one for girls and the other for boys. Many places are to be discovered in each level.

Why do I recommend it to you?
I'm going to be quite subjective.
Characters. In this anime, it is very easy to compare yourself to one of the players, all of them have their own character and specialty. This is why one can quickly fall on the charm of one or more characters.
Levels. No, the levels are not repetitive. This is how we have a new game, a new story hidden behind the levels. We learn more about the characters as well as the game through the levels.
The anime in general is great, you discover 8 characters, all different. They start the levels directly, so you discover their personalities, faults and qualities. Each episode teaches you more about this game, about the characters, both main and secondary.
That's why I strongly recommend it to you, each episode transports us to a game, different each time, with a specialty required, or not, with stories that are added, the characters befriending and seeing them move forward up to 100 million views. Marvellous.
Only downside, you're quickly cut, 12 episodes, it's not long.

Does Nakanohito Genome have a future?
Nakanohito Genome can easily make you think of Sword Art Online or even No Game No Life. Teenagers stuck in a video game risking their lives? Enough seen and reviewed.
However, in my opinion, Nakanohito Genome really has potential. Very different from Sword Art Online with the levels like the characters, it's not a simple game where you have to kill the bosses to go to the next level, each level has its own skill and strategy.
In addition, the tenth volume of manga will only be released on February 27, 2020 at the same time as an OAV, given that we are quickly cut off from our momentum, the OAV will surely contain the long-awaited sequel. But I don't think that in this OAV we will get all the answers, whether it's the end, the views, the secondary characters, or even about Paka. This is why we can imagine that a season 2 will take place, so our questions will have answers. We can therefore say that Nakanohito Genome has a future.
